Hand-Crafted Tools To Stretch Your Sound
“The Funk Fingers have had a long and interesting history. After having them made here in Woodstock for a year, when the idea was new, I ceased producing them, thinking there were enough out there in the world. But last year, when Kevin introduced his improvements to the design, I was excited about how much better they are now to play bass with, and have given him my blessing to produce them with his design improvements. These are the Funk Fingers I'm using, and I think other players could do some wild things with them too.”

“Funk Fingers” are available again after many years through a license agreement with Tony Levin.
For anyone new to “Funk Fingers”, they are sticks strapped onto your 1st & 2nd fingers used to play electric bass to get a powerful attack and funky sound. FFs are length compensated for the difference in finger length, and have a stretch strap to attach to your fingers.
Tony Levin - Basses, Chapman Stick, (King Crimson, Stick Men,Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Pink Floyd, AWBH, John Lennon, Bowie and many more. Originally created Funk Fingers with his bass tech Andy Moore. Tony has this to say:
My original pair of Funk Fingers purchased from Tony's website in the late 1990s.
We are offering two different types, the “Original” just like the ones Tony sold through his website in the past. There is a second version “Funk Fingers”, REDS that are different in that they have a structural fiberglass core that extends in below the conter of the body for a more consistant and punchy tone.

For those people who aslo have the standard "Original" version, the reds can be spotted at a glance. In experimenting with the REDS design, I considered just using a denser heavier type of wood. What I discovered is that adding the structural fiberglass rod in a fairly long length is preferable and helps offset the variations in wood density. Each FF stick can vary in weight by a few grams anyway because of density variations within a tree. I determined that adding the fiberglass core gives "Red Type" FFs a better feel and more control. A Tony Levin Favorite !
I do not want the reintroduction of "Funk Fingers" to adversely affect the value and collectability of the originals that Tony sold in the late 1990s. I therefore burn or ‘”brand” the Funk Fingers logo into the wood to differentiate the new from the old. The branding into the wood will not easily scrape off like ink could and will hopefully prevent anyone from misrepresenting the new ones as vintage. I have seen FFs sell for high prices on ebay a couple of times and I certainly don't want my work to devalue the originals. I have an original pair myself that I want to make sure keep their heritage.
Concerning original “Funk Fingers” sold by Tony Levin.
"Original Type": Just like those that Tony sold in the late 1990s, except that the logo is now burned in.
"Red Type" have a core of structural
fiberglass extending below the center of the body. This added core is more consistant in tone and control while providing additional punch.
A Tony Levin Favorite!
